Technology has changed almost everything about the way we live, travel and share information. Modern technologies smart phones and internet mean tasks that once took days, weeks or months now happen instantly, at the press of a button or swipe of a screen. Over the years, communication has changed dramatically. We went from having basically no technology and having to send letters to someone, to having everything at the touch of our hands. If people today looked at communication the same way as those from the 1800's they would talk about how much technology has changed.
International travel has taken off with the development of planes and commercial airlines. But fewer than 100 years ago, it took Australians at least 40 days to travel to the UK by ship. Travel was costly and took a long time.
Phones were originally screwed onto walls and attached with wires and
cords. They used a circular dial with numbers that you had to turn to phone someone’s number. Push buttons came in later. Mobile phones first became popular in the 1990’s. Since then smartphones have combined phone capability with instant messaging, internet access, cameras and navigation.
Advances in technology and new gadgets have made our lives significantly easier and more connected, but they have also changed our lives in ways that we couldn’t have predicted even as late as ten years ago. As more existing technologies are stacked onto each other and developed into something greater, consumers and businesses alike can expect to see more opportunity with future technology. Technology will be faster, can accomplish more and everything will become more streamlined to make getting work done, easier.
